Following a Fine Art Degree gained at Bath Academy of Art in the 1970's Lyn's career has been very varied. She has spent many years as an art teacher and lecturer, specialising in drawing, painting and textiles. Before moving to Spain in August 2005 Lyn had been running her own interior design business, shop and gallery in Clevedon, Somerset. She has also run a successful international knitwear business. Now, finally, she has the opportunity to indulge her passion for drawing and painting. She prefers to work in watercolour paints and pencils as the transparency and luminosity of colour achieved suits her interest in the natural environment. Lyn now teaches watercolour painting and drawing in Alora.

COMMISSION WORK

Lyn is now working on commissioned 'portraits' of properties. Each project is carefully studied and sketched at the time of day when the sun creates the most interesting shadows. All details are carefully recorded in a small pencil sketch made from observation and photographs. A line drawing is then pencilled onto watercolour paper and a final image is developed using pen and ink and watercolour washes. The result is an effective combination of colour and accurate detail.

If you would like to commission Lyn to do a portrait of your home [or hotel / B&B property] the cost would be approximately 170 to 190 euro [depending on the size of the property] for the work complete with double mount and frame [40x50cm usually plain box section light wood]. The price also includes a set of six greetings cards using the image. Additional cards will be avaiable at the cost of 2 euro each.

Lyn's love of animals has prompted her to make numerous studies of horses, dogs, cats and wild creatures great and small. To achieve accuracy of detail and texture these studies are made with watercolour pencils.

If you would like to commission Lyn to do a portrait of your favourite pet the cost for a head and shoulders study of approximately 24x16 cm will be 75 to 95 euro [depending on detail required] The work would be supplied mounted and framed to suit the image unless you have any specific requirements.
